Fermentation process expert will advise Inocucor as it plans its U.S. production operations and headquarters, and boosts manufacturing at Montreal lab
MONTREAL, April 20, 2017–One of the world’s leading experts on fermentation process engineering, Dr. Jeff Lievense, will chair the Manufacturing Advisory Board for Inocucor, the producer of biological crop inputs for row crops and high-value produce.
Inocucor uses a patented fermentation process to combine multi-strains of bacteria and yeasts into powerful soil and plant optimizers that are safe for people and the environment. These products naturally improve crop yields, shorten growing periods and create healthier, more resilient soils for farmers and greenhouse growers.
Lievense is Senior Engineering Fellow at Genomatica, Inc., a leading provider of bioengineering technology to the chemical industry. He
has extensive fermentation process development and scale-up experience working with industrial-scale manufacturing plants producing a wide range of products.
Lievense held previous positions in industrial biotechnology with Amyris, a fast-growing industrial biotechnology company, and Tate & Lyle, a global food, beverage, and industrial ingredient supplier. During the early 1990s, he served as Vice President, Research and Operations, and President, Bio-Business Incubator of Michigan at Michigan Biotechnology Institute, and as Director of Chemical Programs and Pathway Engineering at Genencor International. Early in his career, he held engineering, research science, and product management positions at Eastman Kodak.
Lievense holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Purdue University.
