Inocucor Technologies accelerates plant growth without using chemicals
Developing microbial solutions that accelerate plant growth and improve farm yields without chemicals has been Inocucor’s main objective since 2007. In July, this Montreal-based SME received a U.S. patent to protect the combination of natural bacteria, yeasts and fermentation processes that form the basis of Garden Solutions, a biological growth-accelerator product designed mainly for use by vegetable farmers. “Receiving our first patent in the United States was an important step for us,” said company CEO Donald R. Marvin. “Having a patent-protected technology is very valuable for the company and its stockholders.”
The environmentally-friendly product, which was developed using an exclusive fermentation process, has been marketed in Quebec and Ontario since 2013 and is now registered and sold in 27 U.S. states. Inocucor is working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to sell the product throughout Canada starting next spring.
Inocucor is working to develop a second-generation growth-accelerator for row crops such as soy, corn, wheat and canola. Other projects are being developed for the biological, chemical-free treatment of common infections that affect tomato and potato crops. The company, which recently moved to Technoparc Montréal, receives funding from Cycle Capital Management.
